Well my Canon Rebel XS DSLR camera arrived today and I love it! I never thought I would ever say that about a camera. I immediately took it out of the box and started snapping pics outside of the kids, neighborhood,etc.

This camera is amazing! I thought our Kodak Easy Share took some great pics but this one put it to shame!

I had 9 inch snow drifts in my yard in March!!!

I don’t know about you but there is something seriously WRONG with that statement.That , my friends , is Colorado weather for ya!

Most of it has melted and we are looking at more snow again tomorrow night/Saturday. Honestly I can handle this kind of weather when it is … oh I don’t know…  WINTER!!

Anyway — the girls have been having a fun week off playing and being lazy. So despite the snow, we’ve been having a great week.

The new exercise regiment is going pretty well… I’m really sore. (so that means it’s working right?) This week I only did 1 day of riding my mountain bike up on the trails of Cheyenne Mountain and 2 days running on trails on Fort Carson.

Spring has Sprung

Well Spring has arrived and today was the first day in a couple of days where it actually felt like Spring. Late last week –  we had a lot of snow hit the area. March 20th felt more like a regular winter day than the first day of Spring.

It was just beautiful out today.

Spring also has a tendency to bring lots of changes and new beginnings. It is no different for me this Spring.  I’m sure you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about.

I was chatting with my friend Tishia Lee this afternoon and she mentioned her exercising. Well that got me thinking, it was time to get back in shape.

I bought a bike early this year but haven’t been able to ride it much with all the low temps and ice/snow. The weather is so much nicer that I can actually start doing exercise outside. So the exercise regimen on tap is of course mountain biking and I’m adding running to it this year.

So I’m going to  be doing the Couch to 5K running program. Ultimately, I’d like to run in a 5K but we’ll see about that. I’m really serious about this– so I went out and bought a really nice pair of running shoes.

This running program created by Cool Runnings is over the course  of 9 weeks. ( No its not the movie – Cool Runnings -  and no this post is NOT sponsored)I should be done and in super awesome shape right about the time that SGT Daddy is getting ready to come home!  (alterior motives people )

So what are you doing this Spring to ‘change’ things up a bit??

Yep R&R is over and SGT Daddy is on his way back to “the Stan“. We really had a great time together.. did some shopping, ate out A LOT and just loved all being together.

So now we are officially in the last phase of this deployment … Can I get an AMEN?? It’s hard to believe that 10 months ago

we started this process , not knowing how the process would change us.

It did change us — that’s for sure. We learned a lot about ourselves and what we want in our marriage and our life.  I think even the girls learned a good lesson or too .. mostly not to take things for granted.

To our friends that are just starting this deployment journey (you know who you are ) –
My advice to you is simply take it day by day. Try not to think about how long it will be until you are physically together again. I know its hard but each of you can do it . Set milestones and when you reach them … reward yourself.

It’s taken a little bit of an adjustment on everyone’s part to get used to him being back home .. but such is life right!?!

We had our first disagreement the other day and now that is out of the way, we can move on with the re-adjustment process while he’s home.

Now he does have to go back sometime next week but only for a few more months…. then this deployment is OVER!!  (wow that just feels awesome to say )

So now I’m off to watch SGT Daddy play some Call of Duty and enjoy having him home!

Now you guys know because of OPSEC I can’t give you the specifics on when he’ll be here ,etc…. but I can say that ALL of us are very excited about. We haven’t been together as a family in almost 9 months.

We also recently found out some important details about homecoming which isn’t too far off either (again OPSEC ) It seems weird to even be using those words but we in definitely in that zone now.

Things are going pretty well , the kids are doing good and life is generally good. I really can’t complain. I hope the same for each and every one of you!  : )

We were living a relatively normal civilian life when we made the decision to become a military family.(yes it was a joint decision)

Our world changed completely the day SGT Daddy left for Basic Training. Both of us have family members that served , so we had an idea of what to expect.  I’ll be the first to admit there was a lot we didn’t expect or know about.

It was our first time apart in a very long time   and we had a hard time adjusting to that separation. (Actually now 10 weeks apart seems like a cakewalk compared to the 7 months so far in this deployment)

Here is the first post after SGT Daddy left for Basic — That was a particularly BAD week. (later to be known as my “day from HELL”)  I’ve grown a lot as a blogger since then. LOL

We’ve also learned a lot about being a military family and the Army since then as well. We know are experts in PCS moves , how to navigate Tricare and IEP’s with a special needs child, TDY’s, deployment, what to do when Finance screws up your pay,etc.

So Happy  Anniversary SGT Daddy and the Army !  It’s been a fun (yet stressful at times) ride
