He finally made it home!

Posted by: Tammy | Comments (2)

Thanks for coming back to visit! If you would like to be a guest blogger at ArmyHousehold6.com - please let Tammy know!

Welcome Home DaddyIt took SGT Daddy almost 5 days to get home but he made it early  last week !!!  We’ve been having a great time hanging out and being a family again .

It’s taken a little bit of an adjustment on everyone’s part to get used to him being back home .. but such is life right!?!

We had our first disagreement the other day and now that is out of the way, we can move on with the re-adjustment process while he’s home.

Now he does have to go back sometime next week but only for a few more months…. then this deployment is OVER!!  (wow that just feels awesome to say )

So now I’m off to watch SGT Daddy play some Call of Duty and enjoy having him home!

Catching my breath a bit

Posted by: Tammy | Comments (2)

As you can tell I’m been pretty busy lately — hence the lack of blogging. I’ve been swamped with client projects and of course gettting ready for SGT Daddy’s R& R . Yep that’s right very soon SGT Daddy will be home.

Now you guys know because of OPSEC I can’t give you the specifics on when he’ll be here ,etc…. but I can say that ALL of us are very excited about. We haven’t been together as a family in almost 9 months.

We also recently found out some important details about homecoming which isn’t too far off either (again OPSEC ) It seems weird to even be using those words but we in definitely in that zone now.

Things are going pretty well , the kids are doing good and life is generally good. I really can’t complain. I hope the same for each and every one of you!  : )

5 years

Posted by: Tammy | Comments (5)

5 years ago today, Daddy became Soldier Daddy (and eventually SGT Daddy)

We were living a relatively normal civilian life when we made the decision to become a military family.(yes it was a joint decision)

Our world changed completely the day SGT Daddy left for Basic Training. Both of us have family members that served , so we had an idea of what to expect.  I’ll be the first to admit there was a lot we didn’t expect or know about.

It was our first time apart in a very long time   and we had a hard time adjusting to that separation. (Actually now 10 weeks apart seems like a cakewalk compared to the 7 months so far in this deployment)

Here is the first post after SGT Daddy left for Basic — That was a particularly BAD week. (later to be known as my “day from HELL”)  I’ve grown a lot as a blogger since then. LOL

We’ve also learned a lot about being a military family and the Army since then as well. We know are experts in PCS moves , how to navigate Tricare and IEP’s with a special needs child, TDY’s, deployment, what to do when Finance screws up your pay, etc.

So Happy  Anniversary SGT Daddy and the Army !  It’s been a fun (yet stressful at times) ride

Thank You Sears!

Day 11 - My new Flip Video Camera

I guess you could say that I’m a “Sears brat “! You see , my dad worked for Sears for 30+ years and I spent lots of time in a Sears Store as a kid!  : ) Heck I even worked there myself  in the 90’s and have shopped there a lot over the years as an adult.

A couple of months ago, I signed our family up for the Sears’ Heroes at Home program. It is a program created to give back to military families.

Over the course of 3 months , we received gift cards worth a total of $322.00

It was a much appreciated and welcomed gift.

Since this was all extra $$ that we certainly weren’t expecting to receive, we bought stuff for the house, a Wii Spongebob game for the girls and a Flip video camera (which I’ve wanted for a REALLY long time)

I have to say this camera is the coolest handheld camera I’ve used in a long time. It’s so easy to use Beck can use it with ease. It’s completely plug in pay… there is a USB connector built into the camera.(yes video is coming very soon )

So a BIG heartfelt thank you to Sears (and all those that donated to the program) !! You guys do so much for our military and their families!

Keep up the great work.

Day 8 – Eat at Joe’s

part of the decor at Joe's

My friends Sara, Tracy and I went to have lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack today. Oh man was it good. I highly recommend the stuffed shrimp. We had a great time eating and laughing and talking about our FRG experiences today.

On another note, we got Beck’s report card today. She got straight A’s and made the honor roll for the second consecutive time. I’m so proud of her!

What a Girl Wants

Posted by: Tammy | Comments (6)

Won't you join me?

well , we all know what I want … SGT Daddy home but that’s not when I’m talking about today.

I’m participating in awesome project that is a journey to a MORE fabulous me! It’s called 52 to Fabulous and I encourage all of you to join me!

So what I would like to change ? Hmmmm several things come to mind but the most important things for me are Organization, Fitness, and Family. Ever since SGT Daddy left for Afghanistan – these area have been affected more than any other.

For those that know me well,  know that I am the most unorganized person on the planet. Unless we are talking about corporate social media strategy, but that’s what my boss pays me for. I want to be more organized so that we are not always scrambling at the last minute looking for something or making sure it gets done.

Fitness is important to me as well. I’m in pretty good shape considering I’ll be 37 (ugh ) later this month and I don’t really need to worry about my weight. ( please don’t hate me LOL ) I just want to be in better shape only going to make getting older easier.

Family is last but certainly not least . Actually, it is the most important. This recent deployment has stretched the boundaries of our family and yet it did not break. Even though we are over halfway done with this deployment (and hopefully our last) we still have a way to go to be back to our normal family. Once SGT Daddy comes home, we will going through adjustment once again getting back to what we had before he left.
