What a great giveaway! I know I would definitely buy more books, since digital ones are usually cheaper... and I'm cheap, haha!

I definitely think these will change the way we shop for books. As you said, it is perfect for military members whose space when deployed is at a premium. I think deployed personnel and ship bound peeps will get hella use out of this technology. I am already an audiobook convert as holding a baby and playing with or feeding him monopolizes my time quite a bit these days. The idea of a screen displaying a book is mucho appealing!

I tweeted too because I am hella interested in an extra entry! :)

I wasnt going to enter, but my husband changed my mind. He has heard about this cool machine, and was telling me about the Sony Reader two days ago. He's deploying VERY soon and would like to have one to kill some time and keep his mind off of things. He loves to read and this is just perfect for soldiers! I'm so glad Boarders is letting you give one away!

I think that e-books have the potential to drastically change many aspects of how we purchase books, both in volume and frequency; however, for that to happen the price is going to have to significantly decrease for most of us. I have wanted a device like a Sony Reader for quite a while, but just cannot part with the money for one.

The appeal to me is the space saving. I am an Army wife with 4 young children. We’re currently stationed at an Air Force Base, and whoever has always said that the AF has better housing…well girls let me tell you they do not! I am living in a shoe box! It is a shoe box on the beach in Florida that I am very grateful to have, but a shoe box all the same. I am also a medical transcriptionist working full time from home. As you can imagine, we’re pretty cramped. My office is smooshed into a corner of my bedroom. Good thing I don’t like to do wild and crazy things in my bedroom, you know…like turn around or stretch my arms out. My elbows are bumping the walls as I type this. Okay, maybe that is an exaggeration, but the place is tiny and the kids have me out numbered!

My reference material for medical transcription is a must, but my books for pleasure reading take up space that we simply do not have. My most beloved books are sitting in boxes collecting dust. Don’t throw anything at me, but I forget to take library books back. I have a self-imposed library ban! My life is so insane with just trying to keep my head above water every day, that I often forget things if it is not going to result in bodily harm, starvation, or filth.

With a nifty Sony Reader, I would read so much more! I also love the idea of the portability of it. No bulky books stuffed in my bag for trips to the park. I truly love reading. For me, it is like a vacation. Reading a book is like escaping into that world for a few minuets. I leave a book feeling refreshed. Sure, that sounds cheesy and slightly retarded, but that is why I love reading all the same.

I have a hard time letting go of $20.00 for a hard-cover book that I am not going to be able to keep due to space, or will get lost in the sea of stored books. Let us not forget moving. I am married to SGT. Dity Move himself. Heaven forbid we ever let the government move us. Oh, no! We just might miss out on the profit of a dity move, the stress, the migraines, the cursing, the divorce threats, the crying, and the opportunity for good ol’ family togetherness. There again is the appeal of the e-book. All of my books would be crammed right into that handy dandy little device.

For me, e-books would dramatically increase the number of books I purchase. If I don’t have to leave the house with 4 kids, who love nothing more than to save all the fights and bathroom trips for the middle of the local super store, to get the book and I don’t have to find a spot to store it and I don’t have to lug it around in my purse, well that sounds pretty fantastic.

As for this contest, well I am hoping this was an either/or kind of thing. I don’t know how other folks have the time to blog, tweet, post, and so on and so forth. Hopefully we’re all getting out and enjoying some fresh air and exercise, it keeps a girl sane you know. Either I don’t have it together nearly as much as I think I do, or everyone else needs to have a few more kids to take up all that free time! Between exercise, kids, work, household stuff, good grief I am lucky to change my socks every day.

Best of luck to all in the random pickin’!

I'm not so sure I know at this point whther Books will change a whol lot in our household...A few have written that it will make deployments easier whether on a sub or a HWMMV. All the electronics my husband brought back from deployments were so coated in sand, inside and out, that they've never worked properly since! And then there's our library. We love our books, read them over and over and enjoy sitting in our own private library (it really isn't anything fancy, just lots of bookshelves and a comfy chair). I supposed if I had an eReader I would probably take it to get the oil changed, wait at the drs office, etc. My friends swear by them so I'm curious to give one a try!
