Let’s Help Another Soldier
Posted by: | Comments
Hat Tip : LAW from ParentZone
I’m going to post this on HASMO (help a servicemember out) but I wanted to alert all of you to another soldier in need, SPC Sprenger! This soldier from Minnesota really hit home (literally) because that’s where my husband is from and my second home!!
We were able to garner a TON of support when we pulled together for Hunter so let’s do it again. Ok? I knew you’d be on-board!
Here is some of the story …
After the Army transported him to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, Sprenger spent months lying in his bed, wrapped in gauze, almost like a mummy.
When he was released, he moved back home with his mother to the farm town of Sleepy Eye, Minn., where they made a troubling discovery.
The government compensated him, but his mother says the money wasn’t anywhere near enough to cover his family’s expenses. So Sprenger and his family swallowed their pride, as a growing number of veterans have done, and went cyberbegging: They posted their story on a Web site and asked strangers to help.

If you can do anything to help, please head over to HASMO or USATogether (where SPC Sprenger originally posted his need for help)
President Obama
Posted by: | CommentsCongratulations President Obama !
While you are not MY choice for President, you are none the less the next President of the United States. You are my President. While I don’t agree with your philosophy, ideals and beliefs, I will give you the respect that your position commands.
Speaking as a military wife, you are my husband’s new boss as Commander in Chief. I know that you don’t have any military experience personally and I truly hope that you surrounded yourself with the right people to do that part of your job effectively. Just remember to let the military commanders in the field make the decisions on what is best for our Armed forces not politicians, lobbyists and legislators.
I guess only time will tell. I just want you to know that my husband , several of our friends and family as well as lots of Americans’ family members are part of your team. I just hope that you do things for the right reasons in the name of the USA and protecting what we have.
I am so proud to see that our country can have such a peaceful and smooth transition from President Bush to yourself. It shows a lot about how great our country is.
Congratulations again President Obama
Kiersten’s Acting Debut
Posted by: | CommentsNeed help with Finances and Getting out of Debt??
Posted by: | CommentsI get a lot of email from military fiancees and new spouses asking for resources on finances and debt management. So when I heard about this I knew I had to share it with you for several reasons.
My good friend , and US Air Force Veteran, Taffy Wagner contacted me about this upcoming financial workshop called Debt Stops At The Altar, I knew it would be perfect for those soon to be and new military spouses.
Also the other awesome thing about it was what Taffy was giving away with it! She’s offering a 25% discount to military spouses that purchase this program and is donating 15% of all purchases made from January 14, 2009 to January 30, 2009 to be divided between several military support organizations like National Military Family Association and Help A ServiceMember Out to reach out to the community she still considers herself a part of.
What’s new ?
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s been a crazy couple of days around here.. SGT Daddy left last week to head off to play Army do some deployment training. It’s always a little nuts the first couple of days that he is gone. I think we’ve finally got into our new routine. (of course we miss SGT Daddy a lot)
SGT Daddy did find out what he will be doing during deployment which made me happier. I wish I could share it but as you know not everything in our lives is “blog-able”. The Army kind of frowns upon OPSEC violations! Let’s just say this job is a good thing and we’ll be able to communicate more often than previously thought.
The biggest news is that Kiersten auditioned for the school play and she got a part in it ! It was a closed audition (no Mamas allowed) so that’s why there are no pictures. They are doing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe and Kiersten will be playing the part of Myrtle Turtle. It’s a small part but she’s super excited. After all – there are no small parts…. right?
Now the fun can really begin.. why you ask ? Well the play is on Friday! So that means that she has rehearsals till 7 every night this week. Ah the life in the “theater”!
Also the other big news is that my friend Shannon (and now business partner at Business & Learning.com) and her son Andrew are coming to visit for the weekend. We are going to be celebrating my birthday. (which is on the 23rd in case you were wondering ) I’ll sure we’ll have some pictures and perhaps a video or two! : )
So what’s up with all of you? Have you recovered from the holidays?

Update on Holiday Mail for Hereos
Posted by: | CommentsI just received this email and wanted to share it all with you..
I am writing because I thought you might enjoy an update on the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign I was telling you about. I’m excited to report that we surpassed our goal of one million cards and have successfully sorted and delivered 1,400,000 holiday cards to soldiers, vets, and their families! We could not have done this without your help; I truly appreciate your willingness to spread the word via Army Household6.
The creators of Holiday Mail, Pitney Bowes and the Red Cross, wanted to express their thanks to bloggers like you who were kind enough to help us reach our goal, so they put together a video. Here’s the link if you want to take a look: http://blip.tv/file/1643672/

Hard to believe its 2009! What I want to know is where did 2008 go?
I have to say 2008 was a pretty great year for us!
SGT Daddy got promoted to SGT, Kiersten surpassed 2 years seizure-free and 1 year medication free! Becca was evaluated as a Gifted Reader in Kindergarten. I reached some personal and professional goals.
2009 will be a bit different and a more “trying” year for us. I’m sure we’ll have lots more to celebrate and we’ll learn a thing or two about ourselves and our family. We always do during a “separation” whether its a week-long TDY , month long training or the BIG D. (deployment people not divorce)
I’m really looking forward to 2009 and all that it will bring. I have several projects in the works but one I’m really excited about.
I wasn’t going to announce it till launch day but why not do it now?? (you guys know that I don’t have much patience)
Starting January 12th, I’ll be the Editor of the BRAND New Military Life Channel at Blissfully Domestic. (its a blogging thing for those wondering)
How cool is that huh? The channel is still being built on Blissfully Domestic’s website but will be up and ready to go by the 12th. So make sure you still by and visit me over there as well.
So what are your plans for 2009?? Anything major in the works??
