SPC Munson receives the Army Commendation Medal

August 25, 2007 By: Household6 Category: Army Tales, Our Clan 2 Comments →

Sounds like an newspaper title huh? Yea well I couldn’t think of anything catchy, cute or funny…

SSG Pringle had put Dan in for an Army Commendation Award due to his great work at WRAMC and he was awarded it. Way to Go Dan! Of course at the award ceremony, 1SG Ambersley called the entire family up on stage. Thanks to SGT Thompson for taking the picture! : )

Here’s a picture of the medal and the ribbon:

Quick update…

August 25, 2007 By: Household6 Category: Our Clan, Tammy No Comments →

Sorry for going so long without an update but its been a little crazy here… Long story short Dan’s 1SG found out about the situation and made some calls to see what was going on and what needed to be done. Apparently, the office here in DC didn’t have a problem with the family moving with him but the command in Germany did. So 1SG is going to delete the orders and we’ll be staying here for a couple of years.

Well there ya have it.. just another story in our Army adventure!

Quote from Gen. Richard Cody

August 25, 2007 By: Household6 Category: Military Updates, Support the Troops, This and That No Comments →

The decision you’ve made to be a cadet, a future leader of the sons and daughters that America entrusts to us, is not an easy one, especially in a time of war. But it is an important decision, a critical decision, for the preservation of our Army and the indelible idea that is America. Do not let anyone tell you that your mission is futile, that this war is un-winnable because, frankly, failure is not an option if we are to remain the land of the free…and we will.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts 100%!

BREAKING NEWS….

August 14, 2007 By: Household6 Category: Army Tales, Our Clan No Comments →

I’m very happy to announce that Dan is now Specialist-Promotable Munson!! He passed his E-5 Promotion Board today!! He scored 148 out of 150! I’m so very proud of him as he’s worked very hard the last couple of weeks!

We just have to wait for the lists to come out to see when he actually gets promoted but we are pretty sure it will be in the next month or so because he has the promotion points almost maxed out!

Time to pause…Update

August 14, 2007 By: Household6 Category: Our Clan, Tammy No Comments →

Well we really haven’t heard much as far as anything that is “official”. Dan’s MSG was supposed to fill out some form to keep Dan here at Walter Reed to cancel our orders and keep him there. Well MSG made some phone calls and found out that his tour to Germany includes the family and we all can go command-sponsored. While Dan was at his promotion board (more on that later) 1SG mentioned that he heard about the situation and he said that he confirmed with PERSCOM that we are all approved to go to Germany.

So basically we don’t know much more and are even more confused! : )

Time to pause…

August 07, 2007 By: Household6 Category: Our Clan, Tammy, This and That No Comments →

Well we finally got word today that Dan’s orders are ready to be cut.. so normally I would be giddy with excitement! However, there is a snag in our plans!! According to his orders, it is a unaccompanied (the girls and I were not approved for overseas travel) 2 year tour due to unadequate medical facilitites for our daughter.

Dan and his Chain of Command is attempting to fix the problem..so as of right now, I’m not sure what is going to happen!! We could go to a different area of Germany that has adequate med. care, get a different assignment in the US, Stay in the DC area or Dan goes off to Europe for 2 years by himself.

This is certainly not what I expected to hear today but I’ll keep you updated on what happens…
